How many months should I enter on my application about my “duration of coverage” if I am not sure how long my stay in the foreign country will be?
Enter the maximum number of months that you are likely to reside abroad as your “duration of coverage”. Should the payment amount that appears be too high, you can go back and enter a shorter term – this will give you a lower premium payment amount. Though this is possible, we recommend that you enter the maximum conceivable “duration of coverage” if you are financially able to pay that maximum amount from the outset. Please be advised that the risk of being uninsured is high if your stay is longer than the “duration of coverage” that you entered on the application and you do not apply for a policy extension before the expiration of your existing policy. Also, we may decline your request for an extension if we determine an illness from the previous contract period to be a pre-existing condition when processing your extension request. Should your stay be shorter than the number of months you entered and you return early from your stay, then any overpayments (based on the number of days left on the policy) will be refunded.
Will I receive proof of health insurance for submission to the Department of Immigration, the visa office or other authorities?
Once we have your application and we are certain that we can insure you, you will receive a certificate of insurance from us by e-mail, and (duration of coverage at least 120 days), a copy of this certificate will be sent to you per post. In our experience, this certificate of insurance is accepted as proof of insurance by all foreign authorities, and a copy submission of the original document is sufficient.
